OpenVPN Connection Info

OpenVPN Windows Setup

  • Download the OpenVPN installer (alt).
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install.
  • Download our OpenVPN config file.
  • Double click that .ovpn file to setup the connection.
  • Right click the OpenVPN system tray icon to connect.
  • Enter the credentials above when asked.

OpenVPN Mac Setup

  • Download tunnelblick VPN client.
  • Double click the tunnelblick file.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install.
  • Download our OpenVPN config file.
  • Double click the config file to open it with tunnelblick.
  • Click the icon in the top right menu.
  • Click Connect pearlvpn.
  • Enter the credentials above when asked.

IPSec Connection Info

IPSec Windows Setup

  • (A good visual guide is located on iweb.)
  • In the control panel under Network and Internet click view network status and tasks.
  • Click Setup a new connection or network.
  • Select: Connect to a workplace and then click next.
  • Click use my Internet connection (VPN).
  • If you don't see the above option, click: Create a new connection and then next.
  • Enter the following info:
    • Address: us.pearlvpn.com
    • Name: PearlVPN IPSec
  • Click Don't connect now, then next.
  • Enter your username and password from above.
  • Click Create.
  • Click Close.
  • Click change adapter settings.
  • Right click the PearlVPN IPSec item and click properties.
  • In the options tab, check Include Windows logon domain.
  • In the Security tab, set the following options:
    • Type of VPN: L2TP/IPSec
    • Data Encryption: Maximum
    • Allow these protocols: Microsoft CHAP Version 2
  • Click Advanced settings in the Security tab.
  • Click Use preshared key for authentication.
  • The key is listed above.
  • Click Ok in Advanced Properties and the Properties window to finish.
  • In the network and sharing center, click Connect to a network.
  • Select PearlVPN IPsec and click Connect.
  • If you are behind a NAt, you may need to follow these instructions if you are having issues.

IPSec Mac Setup

  • Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner.
  • Click System Preferences.
  • Click the network icon.
  • If it's greyed out, click the lock icon in the bottom left. Enter your user password to unlock the settings.
  • Click the + on the lower left to setup a new connection.
  • Select the following options:
    • Interface: VPN
    • VPN Type: L2TP over IPSec
    • Service Name: PearlVPN IPSec
  • Click Create.
  • Enter the following:
    • Server Address: us.pearlvpn.com
    • Account name: yourVpnUsername
  • Click Authentication Settings
  • Enter the following:
    • Password: yourVpnPassword
    • Shared Secret: pearlsecurity
  • Click Ok.
  • Click Advanced...
  • Ensure 'Send all traffic over VPN connection' is checked.
  • Click Ok.
  • To connect to the VPN click Connect.

IPSec Chrome OS Setup

  • Go to chrome:///settings in browser
  • Click Add Connect.
  • Click Add OpenVPN/L2PT from the dropdown.
  • Fill in the following information:
    • Server hostname: us.pearlvpn.com
    • Service name: PearlVPN
    • Provider type: L2PT/IPSec + pre-shared key
    • Pre-shared key: pearlsecurity
    • Username: [fill in your PearlVPN username]
    • Password: [fill in your PearlVPN password]
  • To connect to the VPN click Connect.
  • To setup auto connect:
    • Click Private network.
    • Click PearlVPN from the drop down.
    • Check Automatically connect to network.

PPTP Connection Info

PPTP Windows Setup

  • In the control panel under Network and Internet click view network status and tasks.
  • Click Setup a new connection or network.
  • Select: Connect to a workplace and then click next.
  • Click use my Internet connection (VPN).
  • If you don't see the above option, click: Create a new connection and then next.
  • Enter the following info:
    • Address: us.pearlvpn.com
    • Name: PearlVPN IPSec
  • Click Next.
  • Enter the following information:
    • Username: yourVpnUsername
    • Password: yourVpnPassword
  • You are now able to connect to this network.

PPTP Mac Setup

  • Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner.

  • Enter the following:
    • Password: yourVpnPassword
  • Click Ok.
  • Click Advanced...
  • Ensure 'Send all traffic over VPN connection' is checked.
  • Click Ok.
  • To connect to the VPN click Connect.
